A Convention Centre for Mississauga

Catalysing the City’s Downtown

THE PROJECT

Mississauga’s transformation from a commuter suburb to a self-reliant economic hub — with $55B in annual output and rapid downtown redevelopment — creates a compelling rationale for a convention centre to:

  • Capture business event demand currently lost to Toronto and other regional cities

  • Stimulate hotel, retail, dining, and cultural activity, and

  • Reinforce Mississauga’s aspirations to become a global innovation & knowledge hub, sustainable city, and inclusive urban centre.

SACL’s ROLE

Visit Mississauga first engaged SACL to evaluate the Living Arts Centre (LAC) Lands for redevelopment potential as a purpose-built convention centre with hotel infrastructure - Phase 1 of a multi-step Business Case, focused on testing site and venue suitability. Currently completing Phase 2 of the Business Case, SACL is now finalising all the work needed to to establish that Mississauga can support a world-class convention venue that strengthens its competitiveness in the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (Business Events) market.
